We would like to most sincerely thank all our EltonJohn.com visitors and Rocket Clubmembers for your support for Elton and his music during 2016.
This past year was one of outstanding performances and continued accomplishments for Elton.
Here are just some of the highlights.
Elton released his 33rd studio album, 'Wonderful Crazy Night', in February.
It peaked at number 6 in the UK (his 30th top 10 album in Britain) and number 8 in the US (his 17th top 10 album on Billboard). In addition, Elton made guest appearances on four albums by other artists: the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bright Light Bright Light, Frankie Miller and A Tribe Called Quest.
"Elton John's Rocket Hour" continued on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio each week.
He recorded 50 shows plus a chat at London’s Roundhouse with Rosie Lowe, Christine, Gallant and Parker Millsap, as well as an interview with Brandon Flowers. Elton John’s Rocket Hour can be heard weekly on Beats 1 Radio.
Elton performed at 131 concerts, private events and media appearances during the year, beginning with a show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on January 7 and ending with his first-ever New Year’s Eve Million Dollar Piano show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
He played in 24 countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Monaco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the USA.
Some of the concert highlights this year included three performances in two days at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, a surprise piano dedication at Kings Cross St Pancras, an afternoon concert at the Tower Records parking lot in West Hollywood (with Lady Gaga joining on Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me) and evenings at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, and the Henley Festival, as well as at BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park and the Apple Music Festival. Elton performed at charity concerts for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
2017 promises to be an exciting year as well, with 55 shows in the US, UK, Europe, Norway, and South America already announced.
In addition, three new music videos for Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Bennie And The Jets will be revealed from Elton John: The Cut, and the Radical Eye photography exhibition continues until May at Tate Modern.
2017 also has Elton celebrating his 70th birthday as well as the 50th anniversary of his incredible songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin.
All of us at EltonJohn.com wish you a very happy and healthy New Year, and we look forward to bringing you much more of everything Elton through his official web site.
