Elton’s John’s definitive hits collection is getting a re-release in honor of its fifth anniversary. To commemorate this event, we offer 10 Things You Need to Know About ‘Diamonds: The Ultimate Greatest Hits’.

The new Digital/Deluxe Edition of Diamonds includes three of Elton’s most recent hits, all duets:

Cold Heart (Pnau Remix with Dua Lipa) – 2021

Merry Christmas (Ed Sheeran and Elton John) – 2021

Hold Me Closer (Elton John and Britney Spears) – 2022

Diamonds was originally released on November 10, 2017. It remains on the charts to this day, a full five years later! This makes it the longest-charting Elton John release ever…by far.

2017 release:

In the UK, Diamonds entered the Albums Chart on November 23, 2017, at No. 5, its peak position to date. At present, it has been on the chart for 261 weeks – 152 of them in the Top 20 and 213 of them in the Top 40. It is currently at No. 10.

This more than doubles Elton’s previous album chart achievements in the UK:

  • The Very Best Of Elton John (1990) – 104 weeks
  • Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – 102 weeks

In August 2019, both Diamonds and the Rocketman Motion Picture Soundtrack spent two weeks in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart – another first for Elton!

In the US, Diamonds has been on the Billboard 200 chart for 260 weeks, entering on December 2, 2017. 158 of those weeks have been in the Top 20. It peaked at No. 7 on June 15, 2019, and is currently at No. 46.

This vaults over his Billboard 200 peaks in the US:

  • Greatest Hits 1970-2002 – 145 weeks
  • Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – 111 weeks
  • Greatest Hits (first) – 106 weeks

Diamonds is the fourth Elton album to get an official picture disc. The 1LP LA Dodger’s highlights picture disc celebrating the final US tour dates follows:
