Elton’s ninth studio album was the first album by any artist to enter the Billboard Top 200 at the No. 1 spot. A critical and commercial smash, it remained on that chart for over nine months and spent over four months in the UK Top 20. It was nominated for two Grammys: Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance – Male. The album's only single, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, was Elton’s ninth Top 5 in the US. In 2012, the LP placed at No. 158 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
