Elton's 2008 Oscar party
Only Elton could turn Oscar night, when Hollywood takes a moment to celebrate itself, into a fundraiser to benefit others. The Rocket Man's 2008 Oscar party benefitted his EJAF organization which battles HIV/AIDS and helps those afflicted by it. Stars from Sean Penn and Ellen DeGeneres to Harrison Ford and Billy Joel turned out for the event and eltonjohn.com was there to catch it.

'The Lion King' 10th Anniversary
Sunday, November 11 is the 10th anniversary on Broadway of Disney's "The Lion King," with songs co-written by Elton and lyricist Sir Tim Rice. To celebrate this event, a special ceremony was held on Friday at the Empire State Building. The building was lit up lion king yellow and on hand were special guests including Tshidi Manye, currently starring in "The Lion King" as "Rafiki."

'Smash Hits' tennis benefit

'An Enduring Vision' benefit for EJAF
On Tuesday Sept. 25, over $2.25 million was raised at "An Enduring Vision," the sixth annual benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, New York. Awards were presented to Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, co-President of Chopard, and Harry Slatkin, President, Home Design, Limited Brands.
