Today The Times newspaper has run a series of articles about tax avoidance schemes, particularly the film finance scheme. Elton John has never had any involvement in such schemes, and yet The Times has included his photograph, and three prominent mentions of his name, within the article. Elton strongly objects to The Times using his name and image in such a gratuitous manner, provoking unnecessary innuendo, and has instructed his solicitor to proceed against the newspaper.
