Elton headlines fundraiser in Toronto

Elton will headline the M•A•C Viva Glam Fashion Cares fundraising gala on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Sony Centre For the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada.

Scissor Sisters, Janelle Monáe and Sky Ferreira will also perform, along with renowned Canadian artists Billy Newton Davis, Carole Pope, Jarvis Church, Jully Black, Kreesha Turner, Keshia Chanté, Elise Legrow, Anjulie, Shawn Desman, Divine Brown, Nikki Yanofsky and others to be announced.

This spectacular evening of music, dance and entertainment will be hosted by fashion icon Linda Evangelista and celebrated designers Dean & Dan Caten of DSQUARED2. The event will also feature an extravagant runway presentation. Vivienne Westwood, Greta Constantine, Pink Tartan, Gareth Pugh, Manish Aurora and DSQUARED2 are among the glittering roster of twenty-five local and international designers showcasing their work.

A collection of unique and extraordinary archival stage costumes from throughout Elton’s musical career, flown in especially  from London, will also be on display.

Public tickets for this glittering event are now on sale and can be bought from Ticketmaster.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Canadian HIV/AIDs foundations nationwide as distributed through the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), as well as the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF). All proceeds from this event will go directly to programs supporting people affected by and living with HIV and AIDS.

Combining local and international fashion talent with the design and business communities, this highly popular, star-studded evening includes elegant cocktails and cuisine, a rousing auction, a theatrical runway event and an entertainment spectacle. Over the past 22 years, over 50 thousand guests and volunteers have attended the event, with nearly $12 million dollars raised.
