Following the announcement that Elton will be touring Australia in November, another concert has been added to the schedule. Elton and the band will play a concert in Melbourne on Sunday 18 November at Rod Laver Arena.
Elton’s band will comprise Davey Johnstone (guitar and vocals), Matt Bissonette (bass and vocals), Kim Bullard (keyboards), John Mahon (percussion and vocals) and Nigel Olsson (drums and vocals).
Tickets for this show will go on public sale on Friday 21 September at 9am at ticketek.com.au, telephone 132 849. We have an allocation of Rocket tickets for this concert and they will go on sale very soon. We will inform Rocket members by email about the onsale time and date.
Elton said, “I have been touring Australia regularly since 1971 and it is always a joy to visit this huge, amazing country. Wherever we play we are always invited back, but we also try and visit cities where we haven’t played before. Melbourne was not in the original schedule for the 2012 tour but it is now – the fans have made it very clear that we have to play there! I am very much looking forward to seeing all the enthusiastic and loyal Melbourne fans.”
Elton’s concert will be opened by some very special guests. Croatian duo 2CELLOS supporting at all shows, and German singer Schmidt in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne only. 2CELLOS, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, bring their dynamic dueling cello interpretations of music by artists including Michael Jackson, Guns N Roses, U2, Coldplay and Kings of Leon. They became an internet sensation when their reimagining of Jackson’s Smooth Criminal became a viral sensation, receiving 5 million hits on YouTube within its first few weeks.
Berlin-born Schmidt, will open the show in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, bringing her musical combination of 1920s jazz and modern pop.

Tuesday 20 November, Launceston Silverdome, Launceston, with special guests 2CELLOS.
